Hawaii Five-0 star Scott Caan has admitted that he never watched the original version of the show.

The actor stars as Detective Danny 'Danno' Williams in the CBS reboot, taking over the role from James MacArthur, who played the character from 1968 to 1979.

Caan told TV Guide: "I was a fan of the idea of the original Five-0 but I never saw it."

He explained that he had avoided watching episodes since being cast in the forthcoming remake, in order to avoid mimicking MacArthur's original performance.
"I've made a point not to see it, because I want to keep it fresh and not have any old ideas," he revealed.
