Hawaii Five-0 is the most buzzed-about new show of the season for a very, very good reason. The one-hour pilot is competitive in every way with most big-screen action movies, the cast is fantastic, and the writers do a great job rebooting the 1970s hit series with just enough modern flair to make it new again. Totally over-the-top in all the best ways, Hawaii Five-0 is a textbook TV hit.
In this new version, Alex O'Loughlin is appropriately brawny and bossy as Steve McGarrett, chief of a special Hawaii state anticrime task force; Scott Caan is unexpectedly hilarious as transplanted New Jersey meathead Danno; Daniel Dae Kim is his usual sexy and likable self as disgraced former cop and connected local Chin-Ho Kelly; and Grace Park is the wholesome yet scantily clad rookie with the smokin' bod.
